Senior Hyperion Lead with over 10 years of technical and functional experience with Hyperion Planning and Essbase, including the Public Sector Planning and Budgeting (PSPB) module.

My focus has been on implementations of Budgeting/Forecasting Systems, especially using the PSPB Module.

I am driven by a desire to understand my client's processes and needs, and to help them understand Hyperion's strengths and weaknesses, which enables us to work together to implement an awesome system that is also maintainable and expandable.

Experience includes Project Management as well as performing in a Senior Lead position, achieving success in both independent and team roles. Strong client relationship skills and communication skills. Well versed with Hyperion Planning, PSPB and Essbase, an excellent problem solver with the ability to see impact of design decisions on long term goals.

  • Hyperion Architect and Lead. Team was a fluid mix of County and implementer resources, with 4-7 people throughout the project.
  • Implemented Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.3, FDMEE, and Hyperion Financial Reporting.
  • Responsible for requirement gathering, analysis, and recommendations, and advised county with their business process redesign.

  • Performed assessment of the County’s Hyperion Public Sector Planning & Budgeting implementation
  • Identified key strengths, deficiencies and opportunities (functional and technical) to enable the County to drastically improve their utilization of the system and their ROI.
  • Developed short, medium, and long-term recommendations, a high level design, and a work plan to implement the recommendations.

PSPB Lead (2013)

  • Implemented the PSPB Module (11.1.2.1, Employee-Position)
  • Sole consultant on the project, responsible for nearly every aspect of the project including design, requirements, PeopleSoft staging tables, extracts, automation, user interface changes, business rule changes, security, testing, etc.
  • Designed and wrote PowerShell/SQL/MAXL scripts to automate data extraction from PeopleSoft and data loads into Hyperion.
  • Redesigned existing Finance cube to facilitate labor data from HCP, administrative functions, and end user functionality.

University of Florida (Gainesville, FL)

PSPB Lead (2013)

  • Technical Lead for the University’s system-wide implementation of Hyperion Public Sector Planning & Budgeting (11.1.2.1, Employee-Position).
  • Led requirement gathering sessions, working closely with VP of Finance.
  • Developed PSPB technical design, to-be process documentation, and data extracts from PeopleSoft HR.
  • Customized PSPB module to better meet the client’s requirements. Rewrote the majority of the business rules, task lists, data forms, and menus, and developed custom objects. Modified the outline to aid pre- and post- allocation reconciliation.
  • Wrote automated PowerShell scripts to push the HCP data from the BSO cube to an ASO cube for reporting.
  • Developed training material and trained university personnel.

  • Technical Lead for the County’s organization wide implementation of Hyperion Public Sector Planning & Budgeting (11.1.2.2, Employee-Position).

  • Developed roadmap to improve usage of key features and functionalities available through the applications
  • Roadmap included both a tactical and strategic components to realign data extract and feeds from the source system into Hyperion PSPB to gain optimal performance and eliminate manual effort

City of Vancouver (Vancouver, WA)

PSPB Lead (2012)

  • Led the design and implementation of the PSPB module (11.1.2.1, Position-only) for the City of Vancouver, WA.
  • Designed streamlined, methodical approach to developing PSPB load files, greatly reducing the overall time to implement by enabling data validation to occur earlier in the process.
  • Oversaw City employees developing the extracts, provided mentoring and training throughout development and implementation.
  • Provided technical guidance (especially for calc scripts and business rules) for the Operational Budget development consultant.

City of Albuquerque (Albuquerque, NM)

Hyperion PSPB Lead (2011)

  • PSPB lead and primary technical resource on team implementing PSPB (11.1.1.3, Employee-Position) for the City of Albuquerque.
  • Lead design and implementation of extract files from PeopleSoft, including writing the .sql, using SQL Developer to run the .sql, using Outline Load Utility to load the resulting extracts, and validating the data.
  • Wrote custom calc scripts for COLA, Longevity, and Salary Savings, providing critical functionality that was not available from Oracle.

Senior Hyperion Planning and Essbase Specialist - System 11 (2010-2011)

  • Senior Hyperion Developer on a team designing and building a Hyperion Planning based Budget System as part of an enterprise-wide transformational initiative.
  • Worked closely with the Technical Architect and Functional Team to design overall system and interfaces, created technical design documentation for individual build items, worked with contract developers to implement the designs.
  • Designed outlines, designed and wrote Business Rules and Calc Scripts, designed and developed Webforms, Security, Partitions, and Member Formulas.
  • Developed system requirements and design, configuration, testing, and go-live support for Operational and Capital budgeting processes

Hyperion Specialist - System 9 (2009-2010)

  • Redesigned the security implementation, resulting in increased reliability and easier maintenance.
  • Designed and implemented Dimension Builds (both HAL and manual).
  • Translated Formulas, Calc Scripts, Report Scripts, Reports, and Business Rules from Planning 3.5.1 to System 9.
  • Wrote a Korne Shell based tool set to simplify the development of the automation scripts in MAXL.
  • Enabled Sara Lee to have a uniform and repeatable process across multiple user groups.
  • Implemented a revision control system to improve stability and ensure SOX compliance.
  • Oversaw an off-shore team of four support personnel, providing 24 hour support for the Planning system.
  • Trained and mentored the team, and wrote procedural manuals for the support team to follow.
  • Resulted in decreased support costs for the client.
  • Transitioned support for the project to IBM. Worked with IBM counterpart to provide seamless transition for Sara Lee.
